How to remove grease from walls
A few years of cooking can cause grease to build up on the walls of your kitchen, leaving an unsightly stain. The good news is, you should be able to remove these marks completely.
For small stains, mix 1/2 teaspoon of regular washing-up detergent with a cup of warm water. Wipe the affected area – the stain should begin to fade. Once removed completely, rinse with clean water and blot with a paper towel until dry.
If that doesn’t work, combine 1/3 cup of regular white vinegar with 2/3 cup of water. Wipe the stain, rinse, and blot dry.
How to remove mildew from walls
Mildew is a nasty surface fungus that leaves a scattering of grey and black patches on your walls.
To remove mildew from your walls, create a solution of one-part bleach to 3-parts water. Using a stiff-bristled brush, wipe the solution over the affected area. Rinse thoroughly with water, and blot dry with a paper towel.
How to remove permanent marker from walls
If your kids got a hold of a permanent marker and used your walls as art canvases, don’t panic. Believe it or not, a permanent marker isn’t permanent!
Soak a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol, and gently dab the stain. Avoid pressing too hard or wiping, as this could remove your interior paint.
How to remove dirt and grime from walls
There’s no preventing general dirt and grime from building up on your walls. The best way to remove these stains is to purchase a magic eraser-style product for a couple of dollars. These can be found in just about any supermarket’s cleaning aisle.
Or, you can use a mixture of detergent and warm water. But this isn’t always as effective as the magic eraser.
