Case Study: Lincraft

A referral from a painting friend who couldn’t meet the schedule due to other work.

The Lincraft store was looking tired and run down, especially the western side which copped the afternoon sun. The Lincraft special colour (Dulux Astro Zinger) paintwork was very faded, weathered and chalky.

Challenges included:

• Ensuring safety for the public whilst we carried out the work
• Working alongside other businesses and ensuring we did not affect their trading, customers or buildings
• Working at considerable height
• The areas on tilt ups were covered in grease
• Large cracks which required filling
• After hours work was not possible due to cold temperatures and dew – paint would not dry and just run off the walls.

1. We started early every morning and extended our working hours so they could continue trading with minimal disruption between 9-5pm.
2. SWMS were completed and communicated with Centre Management daily.
3. We used a boom lift to access heights. This included fully qualified EWP licensed drivers, a spotter to ensure safety for public and staff, safety harnesses.
4. We blocked off working areas with caution tape & barricades, displayed “wet paint signs” and used drop sheets to protect concrete pathways.
5. We regularly communicated with nearby businesses to keep them informed of areas we needed to access.
6. We cleaned grease from western wall with 30 sec commercial cleaner, filled all cracks and holes and scraped back flaking paint before sealing.
7. We applied 2 coats of Dulux Weathershield Low Sheen in the Lincraft Colour Dulux Astro Zinger – 10 year guarantee from peeling, flaking or blistering.

1. Job was completed within an acceptable time frame ensuring Lincraft and other businesses could trade as normal.
2. The fresh new Lincraft store prompted the Centre Management to book us to repaint posts throughout the complex.
