To ensure minimal disturbance to the public and business operators, we started bright and early every morning working on the ground floor. When trading opened, we moved to the roof, out of everyone’s way. This allowed businesses and customers to continue as normal 9am – 5pm.
Communication was also key. We spoke with the Centre Management daily and worked with surrounding businesses to gain access to certain areas.
As for the bin challenge, Centre Management installed temporary bins while the permanent fixtures were under our care. We decided to bolt down orange safety cones to prevent trips and falls. We were able to re-install the bins within five days, so they were in place for the busy weekend.
Other protective measures included caution tape, barricades, and ‘Wet Paint’ signs.
To reach the higher areas of the village, our team used a boom lift with a fully-qualified EWP driver and a spotter to protect our staff and the public. Anyone in the lift was fitted with a harness.
To achieve a perfect finish, we filled all cracks and holes and scraped off flaking paint before sealing. We finished with two coats of Dulux Weathershield Low Sheen, and offered a 10-year guarantee from peeling, flaking, and blistering.
The colours we used were Dulux White on White, Dulux Sandfly Point, and Dulux Tingle.
