The house, though well-maintained for its age, had a dated interior design. Notably, the ceilings were painted in a salmon colour, and the external colours followed the traditional Queenslander palette, including Cottage Green, Classic Cream, and Manor Red.

Cameron and Gretta wanted to refresh the entire colour scheme with a modern and contemporary look both inside and out.  They also wanted a high-quality finish that would last for years.

While the paintwork was generally in good condition, it was unclear how many layers of paint had been applied over the years. Stripping back the entire house to its base was an option, but doing so would have been very expensive. The home also featured many VJ boards, which, over time, had developed noticeable gaps that required attention.

We focused on careful preparation and repainting, rather than stripping the house back completely. For the exterior, a modern palette was chosen with Whisper White for the main surfaces, and Colorbond Woodland Grey for the trims. Porter Olive Grove was added to the fretwork, while the front and back doors were painted in Black Caviar to give them a striking, sophisticated appearance.

Inside, the ceilings were refreshed with Builders White, while the walls were given a clean, soft look with Whisper White. In the  , the homeowners opted for a subtle feature, painting the walls up to the picture rail in Porter Olive Grove to create a gentle contrast. Special care was taken to fill in the gaps between the VJ boards, ensuring the finish was smooth and seamless.

The result was a beautifully updated home with a fresh, modern look that was accomplished within budget. The new internal and external colour schemes brought the property into the present day while maintaining its classic Queenslander character. The careful attention to detail and high-quality paintwork provided a durable finish, ensuring the home will continue to look its best for many years to come.
