1. Remove the Peeling Paint

2. Make Repairs

Depending on the severity of your peeling paint, you may be left with cracks or holes in your wall or ceiling. These must be repaired before you continue. Remember to allow any patching compound to dry completely.

3. Create a Smooth Surface

Using fine-grit sandpaper, remove any bumps or grooves to create a smooth, even surface.

4. Clean the Wall

Clean the wall thoroughly using a damp cloth (add detergent if your wall is especially dirty). Allow the wall to dry completely – if you don’t, your paint will peel again.

5. Prime the Wall

This step is very important if moisture was the cause of your peeling paint. Purchase an appropriate primer and use according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

6. Paint

Finally, your wall is ready to be painted. Apply one or two coats as needed, and use painters’ tape if necessary. Allow to dry and voila – good as new.
